Future of Inflight
The future is looking bright for InFlight Wi-Fi with coverage expanding across the world and connectivity speeds improving fast. The communications firm Inmarsat is working with Deutsche Telekom to develop the European Aviation Network [EAN], a high-capacity satellite Wi-Fi network backed up by ground towers, which promises “a high bandwidth broadband service in the air” throughout Europe.
In the US in-flight Wi-Fi is expanding with a network that covers the whole country, upgrading antennas and satellite services with its new 2Ku service, delivering up to 70 Mbps – much faster than your average connection on land.
